A perfect night in NYC

On Saturday, July 12, 2008 me and my awesome boyfriend took a trip in to New York to see my all time favorite band Thursday. For those of you who don’t know about them they are definitely a band to look into.

We took a the train into the city and for some reason everything fell into place that evening. We didn’t wait long for the train at all, maybe 10min. The walk was a little nuts because the venue was 26 blocks from Penn Station.

No worries though, we got to the venue just as the opening band was coming on. Paint It Black was the name of the opening band.  They were not so impressive. Their music wasn’t the problem, the lead singer just wouldn’t shut up in between songs.

We’d only been there 45min, if that, before Thursday came on. The venue, Terminal 5, was great. Anywhere you stood in that place gave you a clear view of the stage. Drinks were pricey, but hey, that’s NY.

The set was amazing. We stayed in the chaotic madness that is the front of the stage almost the entire time. Everyone was enjoying themselves. I almost lost it though when this girl, who had to be at least 280lbs, went nuts. I don’t know how many of you go to concerts, but when your up front in the pit there is a certain etiquette that you follow. She was not in any way following this etiquette and I almost dropped her.

Aside from the fat girl drama, the night was great. If there is a band you like that’s playing at Terminal 5, go for it. You wont be disappointed. If you like rock music and your open to suggestions check out Thursdays Myspace page.
