The Hangover

by Christina on Jun.14, 2009, under Comedy, Movies

Yesterday, I forced my boyfriend to take me out and entertain me. He needs a push every once in a while, or I’ll wind up on the couch alone for the rest of my life, while he plays StarCraft in the other room.

Ok, ok, I’m getting off topic.

We decided to go to the movies. At 3pm we showed up at our local movie theater ready for food, fun, and our flick. The Hangover.

I’ve got two words for you: Laugh riot.

You need to go see it. This movie is literally 96min of non-stop laughing. In case you still don’t get it, IT IS CHOKE ON YOUR POPCORN FUNNY. I was still giggling an hour later.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars, and would pay the outrageous theater price to see it again.

Check out the synopsis, the trailer, and other details, or get tickets at  http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-hangover/35061/main.

Isolated Incident

by Christina on May.03, 2009, under Comedy

Last night, a few friends and I got all dressed up and made our way to The Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Our purpose? Mr. Dane Cook!

Now, in case you don’t know, I live about 15 min outside Philly. Oh, come on! You know you’d drive 2 hours to see Dane Cook if tickets fell into your lap.

First, let me say that tickets were expensive! $118.00 and we weren’t even sitting on the ground level. Don’t get me wrong, we had great seats. Section 19, row 19. That put us center stage, one row up from the floor. Great view!

Second, EVERYTHING at the venue was wallet crunching. Parking: $25, drinks: $10, snacks: $5-$9. And, lets not forget the merchandise. Of course no live event is complete without a t-shirt for nostalgia. Price? $45! Whoa.

Third, the seats were very uncomfortable. Leather cushions made for sweaty bums, and tight leg room left me walking out with stiff knees and calves.

Going there soon? Get info at www.prucenter.com.

Ok, so the show was set to start at 8pm. Well, it didn’t. Coming on stage at around 8:45pm were two other comedians. One after the other they came, doing 20 min sets each. While they were indeed amusing, obviously not very or else I would’ve been able to remember there names.

Finally, the main event! Dane was absolutely hysterical. I can’t really say more then that because, the new set will air on Comedy Central on May 17th. All I will say is you don’t want to miss it. Stay updated at www.comedycentral.com

My favorite thing about the show was the end. The set was over and we were clapping wildly. Dane bowed and ran off stage. We started chanting his name, so he came running back out. Not your typical “thanks again” bull crap either. He stayed with us another 20 min! “Lets hang out for a little while more” he said. Love it!

Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies

by Christina on Dec.01, 2008, under Comedy

I would like to take a moment to honor one of the greatest comedians of our time. Dana Carvey. I’ve seen almost every movie he has been in. Halloween ll, One Of The Boys, Blue Thunder, and Wayne’s World, to name a few. Also, you can’t forget his legendary performances on Saturday Night Live.

All of that hardly compares to Carvey’s 2008 HBO stand-up special Squatting Monkey Tell No Lies. Taped live at the Wells Fargo Center For The Arts in Santa Rosa, CA, it has got to be the funniest show I’ve ever seen.

Me and my boyfriend love to sit up at night and watch comedy shows. Usually I laugh a little and move on. Never, when watching Dana Carvey. No way! It’s a gut wrenching laugh riot from start to finish. If you like comedy you don’t want to miss this.

I hope you have HBO! If not, he sure is one good reason to get it. For a list of the December show times  please visit www.hbo.com.
