Art Inpsires

by Christina on Feb.10, 2009, under Picture Adventures

I’d like to give a shout out to my dearest friend George. A true artist, he ever inspires me, and never ceases to amaze me.

If you’re from the Central/North NJ or NYC area you’ve probably passed by some of his work. The man is a machine. Making the world a more colorful place, one wall at a time.

Drop by his Myspace and check out his work. Make sure you show him some love! www.myspace.com/rgeorgem

For your viewing pleasure I have attached his newest piece. Enjoy!

Photography Class

by Christina on Feb.04, 2009, under Picture Adventures

I started this photography class on Monday at Camden Co College.  Its every Monday for eight weeks from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. I paid $55 to register back in December.

That being said, I arrived on time ready to start. However, the class was 15min late due to another class finishing up in our classroom.  Also, it ended at 7:45pm. Ok, so I’m no mathematician, but isn’t that only an hour?

The teacher was very nice, but soft spoken. Not a very good quality in a class of 23.

At first glance, I think the class itself will be bogus. I am, however, very pleased with the assignments. In them I feel I will truly grow as a photographer. Also, at the end of the eight weeks, we will get a ton of take home assignments to do as we wish. Awesome!

Let me give you an example of my first assignment.

1. Pick a photo from a magazine and try to recreate it.

2. Take a photo form a “birds eye” view. Take the same photo from a “worms eye” view.

3. Take a picture from across the room. Take the same picture from 4ft away. Then again very close up.

4. Slow yourself down and take a photo of something you pass everyday and never stopped to look at.

5. Use your cameras self timer and take a self-portrait.

6. Compose a self-portrait without you in it that best describes your personality.

Very cool, right? I think everything on this list will be a ton of fun. After all, that’s why I’m doing it. I’m excited to get started. I’m also interested in seeing what the future weeks will bring.

Feel free to do these assignments as well, if photography is of any interest to you.

If you would like to take this particular glass next semester, and you live in or close to Camden County, please visit http://www.camdencc.edu/ for more info.

I thought it only right to use this photo as my first post. The reason being is that I took it.

When I first developed it I was amazed at the raw talent I had for photography and it sort of inspired me to follow my creativity into the unknown.

The guy to the right of the fire isn’t important enough to name. However I will tell you a small piece of information that may amuse you. He is a fireman! Ahhh, irony at its finest.
